  • 3. Complete the Graduation Survey when it opens on March 23
  • 4. Attend the GradFair (optional) and order regalia

  • 6. Visit the "Know Before You Go" tab on the Commencement website (available the week of May 11)
  • 7. Attend Commencement Week events
  • 8. Receive your diploma!

Optional Checklist Items

Optional graduation items to consider:

  • Sign up to receive updates from Georgie, GW’s Commencement chatbot that provides 24/7 support to graduates and families by texting "Hi" to 1-877-838-0027.  Messaging and data rates may apply; you may opt-out at any time.  You may also chat with Georgie on the Commencement website.
  • Enter the Commencement Student Speaker Competition early in the spring semester
  • Nominate someone to receive an honorary degree at Commencement on the National Mall.  Nominations received by September 30 will be considered for Commencement 2026.  Nominations received after that time will be reviewed for future ceremonies.
  • Make an appointment to have your Cherry Tree Yearbook picture taken.
  • Update your information with GW Alumni.
