Student Registration Instructions

Graduating students, use the steps below to register yourselves and your guests for Commencement Week events. The deadline to record your name is 11:59 p.m. ET on Monday, April 22. You may continue to register and claim tickets through Friday, April 26, but you will not have the option to record your name. 

Create Your Account

1. Look for an email from [email protected] with the subject line "Register for Commencement Week."

2. Click the link in the email to set your password and gain access to the site.

Set Your Password

1. Make sure your password meets the criteria.

Register for Events

1. Review the list of ceremonies you are eligible for. Click "Register Here" when you are ready to register for an event.

2. Indicate whether you will attend your main school celebration or ceremony.

3. Review the list of associated events, receptions, or ceremonies you are eligible for. Indicate your RSVP and guest count for each one. Associated events do not require tickets for guest, but there is a guest limit to ensure space for all.

Review Your Name and Pronunciation

1. Review your chosen name in the Graduate Information section.

2. Retype phonetics if necessary.

3. Record your name using one of the provided options.

Manage Guest Tickets

1. Indicate whether you or your guests need accessibility accommodations during the celebration. Check the Commencement accessibility page for more details.

2. Select the number of tickets needed for guests planning to attend the celebration or ceremony.

3. Indicate whether you'd like to receive tickets in excess of the initial per-graduate allotment. If additional tickets are available and requested, they will be released on April 29. Decisions on additional ticket releases are made by your school.

4. Click on Submit to complete your registration and claim your guest tickets. You can edit your registration later.

1. Confirm your name by clicking submit.

3. Click on "Get your tickets" to email tickets to your guests, to yourself, or to print them out.

4. Toggle off the "Selected to Print" button for tickets you wish to email.

5. Type the email address where you'd like to send tickets, then click on "E-mail Ticket"

6. Look for an email with "Registration Successful" in the subject line to confirm your registration for your celebration. You will receive a separate confirmation email for each celebration you attend, corresponding to each form you fill out.

Modify Your Registration

If you need to change your registration, there is a link to do so in your confirmation email. Click on Log Back In.

Help Guests Locate Tickets

1. To help your guests locate their tickets, ask them to look for an email with "GW Commencement Week, Your Ticket Is Here" in the subject line.

2. Upon opening the email, click the link to access your ticket. The QR code can be printed, or showed on a phone or other device at the event. There is only one ticket per email.

Faculty Registration Instructions

Please register via MarchingOrder using the steps below to indicate your attendance at Commencement ceremonies. Faculty may register through Friday, May 3.

If you are a faculty member who is also graduating, please be sure to register as a graduate using the student instructions

Log in to MarchingOrder

1. Set a password to access the registration site, Marching Order  Use your @gwu.edu email address, do not use your personal email address to register.

2. After entering your email address, you will receive an email with the subject line, “Marching Order Password Request”. Click on the “Set Password Here” link to set a password.

3. A browser window should open. Set a password for your account.

Registering for Events

1. After creating your password, you will be redirected to the registration site.  Click on the “Register Here” button to continue. If you are not redirected, use this Marching Order login link to enter your GW email address and password.

2. Indicate whether you plan to participate in Commencement Week by using the drop down to select “Yes” or “No.”

3. Using the checkboxes, indicate how you will participate in an event(s). Both options can be selected.

4. Using the checkboxes, select ceremonies from the list for which you will be part of the Stage Party and/or that you will attend as a guest. Then click “Submit” at the bottom of the form.

Accessing Your GradPass

1. Click on "Get your GradPass" to receive a digital pass valid for all events you will attend.

2. GradPass (sample below) can be printed or shown digitally. Bring this to the ceremonies you attend.
