How to Register for Commencement Week Events
We're thrilled that graduates and their guests will be joining us for Commencement 2023. To help make your registration as easy and fast as possible, we’re providing this step-by-step guide.
Important: Graduating students must apply to graduate and complete the mandatory graduation survey before registering for Commencement. Please wait 6 hours after completing the graduation survey before attempting to register for Commencement Week events; GW Law and School of Medicine and Health Sciences students should wait up to 48 hours before registering due to their school-specific surveys.
Graduates, faculty and staff will register themselves and their guests. Be sure to review the Commencement Week Schedule to review which events you and your guests will attend prior to registering.
Plan before you Register: You will need the following information to register:
- First and last names of all guests (these should match their name as shown on a government-issued photo ID, e.g., driver’s license or passport)
- Email address for guests that you would like to receive confirmations
- Accessibility needs (e.g., American Sign-Language interpretation, accessible seating); a phone number will be requested for any guest with accessibility needs
Note: Guests who will be 2 years of age, or younger by May 15 do not need to register and must sit in the lap of a ticketed guest.
Step 1: Enter your name and select your registration group
Members of the GW community eligible to attend Commencement (graduating students, faculty, and staff) will see their names have been pre-loaded into the system. Find your name, enter some basic details, and select a registration group based on the school in which you are enrolled.
After adding your information, you may add the information for your guests.
Step 2: Choose your events
Select “Attending” for each event that you, or your guests, plan to attend.
Step 3: Review and Confirm
Once you click "Continue", you and your guests will each receive a confirmation message (if an email address was provided). To change part of your event registration, or those of your guests, click on the “Update My Registration” button provided in your confirmation email. Only graduates may adjust a guest's registration.
