If you’re a faculty or staff member, you are invited to participate in Commencement Week activities.

Registration for Commencement 2018

Members of the faculty are invited to march in the procession at Commencement on the National Mall on Sunday, May 20.

If you are a member of the faculty and would like to participate in Commencement on the National Mall, please register to participate. The registration link will be available in April 2018. You must provide your own regalia for the event.


Purchasing and/or Renting Regalia

Regalia can be purchased at the Faculty Regalia Sale, scheduled on Wednesday, February 14 and Thursday, February 15, from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., and the Grad Fair, scheduled from Thursday, March 22 to Saturday, March 24 at the GW Campus Store. After Saturday, March 24, faculty can only rent regalia at the GW Campus Store, from Wednesday, May 16 to Saturday, May 19. Emergency rentals only on Sunday, May 20. 


Reimbursements for Faculty Regalia

If you’re a full-time tenure or tenure-track faculty member, you are eligible to receive up to a $200 reimbursement toward your academic regalia purchase.

Submit your reimbursement by Friday, June 1, 2018 through iBuy. Review these instructions to process your reimbursements. If you have any questions, please contact Shelly Shearer at [email protected].

 

Honorary Degree Nominations 

Honorary degrees are awarded to individuals who inspire the graduating class, bring honor to the university, and pay tribute to our diverse nation. Faculty can nominate individuals for honorary degrees by completing an honorary degree nomination form and/or send the form via email to Aaron Kramer, Faculty Affairs, [email protected] or Stephanie Holzbauer, Events & Venues, [email protected].

 

Staff Volunteer Opportunities

As a staff member, you can volunteer to help out with Commencement on the National Mall. Volunteer tasks vary, but may include:

  • Supervising student volunteers

  • Greeting guests

  • Assisting graduates, faculty and platform parties

  • Leading academic processions
