2015 Honorary Degree Recipients

Dr. Carole Watson

Dr. Carole M. Watson, Ph.D. '78

Dr. Watson, an alumna of GW’s Columbian College of Arts and Sciences, held various roles at the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) across several decades. In 2014, Dr. Watson organized “Standing Together,” an NEH initiative to help Americans understand the experiences of service members as they return to civilian life.

Dr. Anthony S. Fauci

Dr. Fauci is an internationally recognized HIV/AIDS researcher and infectious disease expert. He serves as an advisor to the White House and U.S. Department of Health and Human Services on global AIDS issues and emerging infectious disease threats. Dr. Fauci has been director of NIAID since 1984 and has lectured at the GW School of Medicine and Health Sciences multiple times. He received the Presidential Medal of Freedom from President George W. Bush in 2008.

Ordering photos and videos

Individual photos were taken of graduates as they crossed the stage during the school celebrations, and graduates should have received an email link and free passport-sized digital proof of their photos three to seven days after the celebrations. Graduates can place their orders online or call 800-261-2576. Individual photos of students are not taken during Sunday’s University Commencement.

Graduates and parents can purchase DVDs of school celebrations and University Commencement from Commencement Weekend 2014 through CYP Audio/Video Service, LLC by:

Personalized Announcements, Class Rings and Diploma Frames

Graduates can purchase personalized announcements, class rings and diploma frames during the Commencement Fair at the GW Campus Store.

If you are unable to attend the fair or if you do not take classes on the Foggy Bottom or Virginia Science & Technology Campuses, you can purchase these items online. After the fair, diploma frames can be purchased at the GW Campus Store.
