COMMENCEMENT FAIR 2008
has now ended. Please review the items below to ensure you made the necessary preparations for Commencement Weekend.

Colonial Central & the GW Bookstore
Marvin Center Ground Floor, 800 21st Street, NW

Sunday, March 9, 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. (Graduation Packets ONLY)
Monday, March 10 - Thursday, March 13, 9 a.m. - 7 p.m.*
Friday, March 14, 9 a.m. -  5:30 p.m.

As Commencement Weekend approaches, we encourage graduates to participate in the one-week only Commencement Fair 2008 to pick up University Commencement tickets, order cap and gown, and more! Commencement Fair 2008 will take place at Colonial Central and the GW Bookstore from Monday, March 10 - Thursday, March 13 during the hours of 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Friday, March 14 from 9 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. Graduation packet distribution only will have hours on Sunday, March 9, 2008 from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m.

Pick up your Graduation Packet CONTINUES THROUGH MAY 1st!
Spring and Summer 2008 graduates from the Columbian College of Arts and Sciences, Elliott School of International Affairs, School of Engineering and Applied Science, School of Business, and Graduate School of Education and Human Development can pick up their Graduation Packet at Colonial Central during the Commencement Fair with a valid GWorld ID Card.
(If you cannot attend Commencement Fair 2008, you may pick up your graduation packet at Colonial Central - 800 21st Street, Marvin Center Ground Floor - through May 1, 2008.)

Graduates of all other schools will pick up or receive this Packet along with their School Celebration tickets. Please refer to the School Celebration Ticket Distribution Schedule under the FAQs for pick-up information. Summer and Fall 2007 Graduation Packets will be mailed by early-April to the graduates' diploma or permanent address on file. If you have not received your packet by April 21, please contact (202) 994-7129. Some distance programs will distribute these packets to graduates separately. Graduation Packets will be available for pick up 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 9 at Colonial Central and from 9 a.m. - 7 p.m. Monday, March 10 - Thursday, March 13 and 9 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. Friday, March 14.

Graduation Packets include:

- Six tickets for University Commencement on the National Mall. Ceremony will take place on the National Mall rain or shine. If circumstances beyond our control prevent us from staging this ceremony on the National Mall, four of the six tickets are valid for the Alternate Site.
- Free Graduation Announcements. Fill in name and degree and send to friends and family announcing this milestone!
- Guide to Commencement. Contains helpful information about all Commencement Weekend activities, as well as information on diplomas, regalia and useful maps.
- School Celebration Ticket Distribution Schedule. Provides information about where and when graduates can pick up their School Celebration tickets, which are NOT included in the Graduation Packet distributed during Commencement Fair. Additionally, some schools require  completion of the Graduation Survey (See below for survey information).
- Young Alumni Brochure. Contains exciting information about graduates' new alumni status as they join the GW Alumni Community.

Order Your Cap & Gown ONLINE ONLY THROUGH MARCH 31st

Graduates can avoid a $20 shipping fee by pre-ordering cap and gown IN PERSON at the GW Bookstore from 9 a.m. - 7 p.m. Monday, March 10 through Thursday, March 13 and 9 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. on Friday, March 14 during the Commencement Fair. Representatives from GW's official regalia vendor, Herff Jones, will be on site to take graduate measurements, regalia orders, and answer any questions about this unique purchase.

Graduates (except Law School and School of Medicine and Health Sciences - MD candidates) may purchase regalia online ($20 shipping fee) through 11:59 p.m. April 21, 2008. After that date,  online ordering closes and graduates may purchase regalia from May 15 - 18 in the GW Bookstore. Therefore, if you cannot attend the fair, you may still purchase regalia before the week of Commencement.

All regalia pre-ordered at Commencement Fair must be picked up from the GW Bookstore May 14 - May 18. Online orders are shipped to address provided at time of purchase.

Buy Monumental Celebration Tickets Until Sold out
Take advantage of the Self-Service Kiosks and free printing at Colonial Central by purchasing Monumental Celebration tickets online. Ticket sales begin February 14 and last until tickets are sold out.

Pose for Cherry Tree Yearbook Senior Portrait (Undergraduates Only)
Missed Senior Portrait week in Ivory Tower during February? Don't worry! The Cherry Tree will host a second sitting during Commencement Fair. Portraits will be taken at the Cherry Tree table in front of the GW Bookstore from Monday, March 10 - Wednesday, March 12 from 9 a.m. - 6 p.m. Please also note, that all graduating seniors receive a free copy of The Cherry Tree Yearbook courtesy of the GW Alumni Association that will be delivered to their diploma address in the fall of 2008.

Donate to the Senior Class Gift
Support an annual tradition that encourages Seniors to take the first step as alumni in cultivating a culture of giving back to GW, which leaves behind a legacy long after graduation. Senior Class Gift 2008 representatives will be on site to accept donations and answer questions. For further information, please visit the Senior Class Gift 2008 Web site.

Discover the Young Alumni Network
The Young Alumni Network (YAN) sponsors programming in the Washington, D.C., and New York metro areas for graduates from the past 5 years. These events are designed to meet your social, networking, and educational needs and interests. Stop by the YAN table and visit our Web site for more information.

Get Information About Alumni GWorld Cards
Staff will be on hand Monday, March 10 through Thursday, March 13 from 9 a.m. - 7 p.m. and Friday, March 14, from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. Check back for further details about what services and information will be offered!

Residence Hall and Green Move Out
Staff will be on hand Monday, March 10 - Thursday, March 13 from 9 a.m. - 7 p.m. and Friday, March 14, from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. to help you prepare for the end of the spring semester and ensure your move-out experience is smooth, stress free and green.

Find Out About GradWeek Events
Grad Week will be May 11-15...get ready!  The Grad Week Committee will sponsor and promote specials, outings, events, and incentives JUST for the GRADS of 2008 throughout April!   More info and logistics to follow.....CLASS of 2008 get ready to GET IT STARTED....GRAD WEEK 2008 is coming!!!!  Stop by the commencement fair to vote for the GRAD WEEK 2008 theme or provide us with an idea.  Contact mjes@gwu.edu for more information.

Plan to take the Graduation Survey March 24 - May 15
The required Graduation Survey provides GW with graduate feedback so it may improve the GW experience for future generations of students. Graduates of the Columbian College of Arts and Sciences, the Elliott School of International Affairs, the School of Engineering and Applied Science, the School of Business, the Graduate School of Education and Human Development, the College of Professional Studies, the School of Public Health and Health Services, and the School of Medicine and Health Sciences - Health Sciences Programs should click here for further information.

Buy a Class Ring and Order Personalized Announcements
Vendors will be on site at the GW Bookstore, Monday, March 10 - Thursday, March 13 from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Friday, March 14 from 9 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.  to assist graduates in purchasing class rings and personalized announcements to celebrate their achievement.

Pay Your Application Fee
Visit Colonial Central's Cashier's Windows to pay the Graduation Application Fee. Also, check for any outstanding student account balances and settle with student accounts.

Work Commencement
(For students not participating in Commencement Weekend activities)

A limited number of students are hired each year to help with on-campus and off-campus events during Commencement Weekend.  Only students who can work on Sunday, May 18 will be considered.  These student employees will be eligible for extended housing in the residence halls.

Smith Center staff will be available to answer questions about how to work Commencement Weekend events and provide application information at a table across from the GW Bookstore. If you cannot visit the table during Commencement Fair 2008, please e-mail commwork@gwu.edu or visit the Charles E. Smith Athletic Center, Room 203 during business hours for further information or to apply.
